Tahiti knock Fiji out of Beach Soccer champs

Host nation Tahiti have come from behind to win their opening match at the Oceania Beach Soccer Championship in Papeete on Friday.

After trailling 3-1 early on Teiva Izal scored twice and Tainui Lehartel, Naea Bennett and Teva Zaveroni each chipped in with a goal of their own, along with an own goal by Fiji.

The loss was Fiji's second straight and brings their tournament to an end.

Tahiti will play defending champions Solomon Islands today in an effective dead-rubber, with the two teams to meet again in tomorrow's grand final.
