Samoa A have are banking on a first win in New Zealand to press their claims for a first Pacific Rugby Cup title.

After claiming two wins in Australia, Selefuti Patu's team have lost to both the Hurricanes and Crusaders development side's since arriving in New Zealand.

They still lead Pacific rivals Fiji and Tonga in the overall standings and coach, Selefuti Patu, says victory over the Chiefs Development team in Pukekohe tonight will go a long way to securing them the title.

"If we have a win then it would be another one win against Tonga or Fiji but if we lose then we have to try hard so that we can win the first ever Pacific Rugby Cup in this chance."

In Monday's other matches Fiji A are in Porirua to take on the Hurricanes Development side while the Crusader Knights host Tonga A at Lincoln.

The tournament then moves to Fiji where the three Pacific sides will play each other once to determine the overall winner.
