2:11 pm on 18 March 2011

The interim Fiji government has approved the establishment of a Vanuatu resident diplomatic mission in Suva.

The Fiji Sun reports the interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, saying it'll allow Vanuatu to cater for the sizeable ni-Vanuatu community in Fiji, many of whom are in Fiji for tertiary education.

Senior officials from the Vanuatu's ministry of foreign affairs have visited Fiji on an exploratory mission to expedite the planning for the establishment of the mission.
