Nurses on Rota in the Northern Marianas go two months without pay

3:43 pm on 18 March 2011

The acting governor of the Northern Marianas, Eloy Inos, has declared a state of emergency at the Rota Health Center due to the government's failure to pay nurses.

The nurses haven't been paid for four pay periods, or two months, but they are continuing to work.

The emergency declaration will allow the administration to tap other funding sources to pay the nurses' wages.
