A decomposed body of a man found in Gulf Province of Papua New Guinea is believed to be that of a policeman murdered in the Southern Highlands six weeks ago.

Police say villagers living along the Purari River delta found the skeletal remains of a person they think was probationary Constable Isaac Mambi, who was murdered on February the 8th.

Police say the 25 year old policeman had been attacked by more than 50 knife wielding tribesmen who'd mutilated his body and then thrown it into the Kagul river.
