Former Fiji rugby coach wins unfair dismissal case

The former Fiji rugby coach Ilivasi Tabua has been given the all clear to take his case against the Fiji Rugby Union to the high court, after the employment tribunal ruled he was unfairly dismissed from his post two years ago.

Tabua coached the Flying Fijians in the 2007 Rugby World Cup but was sacked by the FRU in August 2009 after the union said he had brought them into disrepute.

Tabua told the Fiji Sun newspaper that the employment tribunal agreed with him that he was sacked without being given the chance to defend himself.

The Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive, Keni Dakuidreketi, says the union has yet to be informed of any decision.
