The Cook Islands audit director Paul Allsworth is not in the all clear yet on allegations of inappropriately paying himself bonuses and salary increases.
While police have completed an investigation and say Mr Allsworth won't be charged with criminal wrongdoing, the contents of another investigation carried out by the Public Expenditure Review Committee have yet to be made public.
The committee chair, Marie Francis, says the complaint laid in June 2010 by a former financial secretary, Sholan Ivaiti, into claims surrounding the remuneration of Mr Allsworth was referred to the committee by Kevin Carr who was the financial secretary at the time.
She says Mr Carr considered it an appropriate issue for the committee to investigate.
The committee's report has to go to parliament before it can be publicly released and the current finance minister, Mark Brown, is expected to table it at the earliest opportunity.
