American Samoa's Treasurer Magalei Logovii has assured government employees that they will be paid next week.

The Department of Interior grant for government operations is covering the locally funded portion of the payroll which according to Magalei is just over two million US dollars.

The total payroll including those paid with federal grants tops three million dollars.

The savings from the reduction in hours which started on February the 6th amounts to 125,000 dollars per pay period or just over three million per year.

Magalei says the Interior Department funding available to the government ends on April the18th, unless Congress extends a continuing resolution or passes the 2011 budget.
