Key players in Samoa's Sevens team will miss remaining legs of IRB

The coach of Samoa's rugby sevens team says key players Uale Ma'i and captain Lolo Lui will miss the remaining legs of the IRB sevens series due to injuries sustained during the Hong Kong and Adelaide legs.

Lolo Lui is suffering injuries to both of his knees, and will be undergoing rehab for the next six to eight weeks.

Ma'i is also set to be out for up to two months.

The head coach, Stephen Betham, says it's unfortunate to lose both players, but the team needs to move on because there are still two tournaments left, in London and Edinburgh.

He says eighteen players are in the training squad and preparations are going well with injured winger Mikaele Pesamino, recovering well and is part of the squad.
