No damage has been reported from a strong earthquake off Vanuatu and New Caledonia last night.
The US Geological Survey says the epicentre of 6-point-8 magnitude quake was 136 kilometres southwest of Vanuatu and 147 kilometres north-east of New Caledonia's Loyalty Islands.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre did not posted any warnings.
