The Pacific's top volleyballers will take a further step towards a possible place at the London Olympic Games when the latest zonal qualifying tournament gets underway in Port Vila this morning.

The event, which features the top two mens and womens sides from Fiji, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands, was meant to start yesterday but was postponed 24 hours after heavy rain delayed the arrival of some officials.

Two countries in both the mens and womens draw will progress to the next qualifying round, which will take place early next year and the Vanuatu coach Lauren McLeod is backing both of her duos to progress.

"With the mens we've got a really strong chance to be in the top two no worries and I think with the womens I think our experience will come through for us as the end of the day. I think we'll be able to get through this round."

Teams can also qualify for London through their ranking on the world tour.
