Samoa's prime minister, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, says he will believe plans for a Chinese owned multi million dollar hotel to be built in Samoa when he signs the papers.

Talamua online reports the Samoa Government plans to offer land opposite the Aggie Greys Resort near Faleolo International Airport for the project.

Tuilaepa says he's been told the Chinese company is looking at using Samoa as a midway stopover for Chinese flights to South America.

He says the company's is considering developing top accommodation in Samoa for the growing number of Chinese travelers, particularly to South America.

Tuilaepa is sceptical because of the number of major hotel projects proposed by foreign operators which've not eventuated.
