New Zealand construction firm McConnel Dowell is to relocate an asphalt plant on airport property in Pago Pago in American Samoa after complaints about fumes and dust.

The American Samoa Environmental Protection Agency had recommended relocation but the company says, as a good corporate citizen, it had already decided to move.

Its project manager Basil Ake says it would cost about half a million US dollars to relocate.
