The Fiji National People's Charter Advisory Council is urging government to establish a Constitution Commission so that the process of preparing a new Constitution can be fast-tracked.
According to FBC News, its Chairman Josefa Serulagilagi says a Constitution Commission should be established and a Terms of Reference drawn up for the appointment of members.
Mr Serulagilagi says work on a new Constitution needs to be fast tracked, as it will require time, resources and wide range of consultations.
He says the Charter Council is totally committed to ensuring that all processes are implemented in time for Fiji to go to the polls in 2014.
Mr Serulagilagi says it is not only important for the Council, but the whole of Fiji and the international community to get behind the 2014 timeline and make it happen.
