Local-based players have been given a glowing report ahead of Friday's Fiji Rugby trials in Suva, from which a 50-man squad will be selected for next months Pacific Nations Cup tournament and the World Cup.

Three teams have been selected that will rotate across three 40 minute games.

Flying Fijians assistant coach Shannon Fraser says he's been impressed by the level of fitness of locally based players.

He says the daily training environment they've been put through is paying dividends and the players have stepped up significantly since claiming the Pacific Rugby Cup title in March.

Fraser says Fiji wants to play an expansive running game and the coaching staff will be scouring the trials for players with strong skill execution and good attitudes.
