Fiji schools advised to observe emergency regulations

The Fiji education ministry has advised schools should observe the Public Emergency Regulations.

According to the website Fijivillage, the warning follows allegations that students of a school in the Western Division gathered to protest over a transportation issue.

The interim minister, Filipe Bole, says the allegations are that two members of an Advisory Council were instrumental in the stirring up of emotions leading to the illegal gathering.

He says students should be protected from such unruly behaviour and irresponsible adults.

The emergency regulations were imposed in 2009 when the regime abolished the constitution.
