An expert tracker dog's expected to join the FBI in searching for two sisters who went missing almost three weeks ago in the Northern Mariana Islands.
Faloma and Maleina Luhk, aged 9 and 10 respectively, were reportedly last seen near a bus stop in As Teo on May the 25th and their disappearance has resulted in the biggest missing persons search in CNMI history.
An FBI special agent, Tom Simon, says it's not known what happened to the Kagman Elementary School students but in order for the FBI to get involved it's necessary to assume they've been abducted.
Our correspondent in Saipan, Mark Rabago, says an unsuccessful fourth day of scouring the Marpi landfill ended yesterday and now the searchers will return to the villages, jungles and caves.
"And look at other leads. One of the witnesses said he was observing a pickup truck in the vicinity of the area for two Wednesdays before the kids disappeared so they're probably looking at that lead."
Mark Rabago says so far the search has cost US$ 200,000.
