Sport: Fiji's Vijay Singh offered spot at Open Championship

Fiji's Vijay Singh has been offered an Open Championship place but may not be fit enough to take it.

The 48 year old was joint runner-up the last time the British golf major was held at the Royal St George's venue in Sandwich.

The three-time major winner pulled out of last week's AT&T National in America with back trouble and was one of five players added to the Open field on Monday.

The others were Webb Simpson, J.B. Holmes and Steve Marino and Japan's Yuta Ikeda.

Currently 63rd in the world rankings, Singh has been plagued by injury and indifferent form in recent months.
