Samoa's ruling Human Rights Protection Party has been assured of winning at least one seat in next week's four by-elections.

The nominations of 15 candidates, including one woman, have been accepted but all still have until this Friday to reconsider.

Constituents are due to go to the polls on July the 29th.

Our correspondent in Apia, Autagavaia Tipi Autagavaia, says the opposition Tautua party has candidates in the three constituencies of Satupaitea, Vaisigano No 1 and Anoama'a East.

"The opposition does not have a candidate for Aleipata Itupa i Luga. Five candidates will be competing for that constituency, all running for the HRPP party, so that is a confirmed seat for the government."
