Fifth leptospirosis fatality in New Caledonia this year

Another person has died of leptospirosis in New Caledonia, bringing the number of fatalities from the disease this year to five.

This has been announced by the health authorities, which have again warned the public to be take precautions.

Leptospirosis is a disease transmitted by animal urine.

New Caledonia had a spike of the disease earlier this year after Cyclone Vania left a lot of stagnant water.
