The Cook Islands Ministry of Marine Resources is being dragged into a civil court case involving a Taiwanese fishing firm.

Yuh Yow Marine Ltd is seeking reimbursement of more than a quarter of million US dollars from the Northern Cook Islands Fishing Company for seven licences which the ministry didn't grant.

The case came before Justice Colin Nicholson in the Cook Islands High Court in Rarotonga this week.

The Northern Cook Islands Fishing Company has been granted leave to serve a third party notice on the ministry.
