The Prime Minister of Tonga, Lord Tu'ivakano, has offered condolences to the family of MP Kaveinga Fa'anunu.
The Tongatapu 9 People's Representative died of cancer on Sunday.
His funeral is being held today.
The Prime Minister says Mr Fa'anunu, who was 49, had been part of a historic political reform process that culminated in last November's historic elections.
He says while he's been denied the opportunity to complete his full term in Parliament, he never tired in attending sessions, despite the gravity of his illness.
