American Samoa is working on its proposal for submission to the Miss South Pacific Board of Directors to host the 2012 Miss South Pacific Pageant.

This year, the Miss South Pacific Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for December in Apia

Among the responsibilities of the host country and the government is to provide prizes and accommodation for the contestants and their chaperones during the entire week of the pageant.

But territorial senator Galeai Tu'ufuli is discouraging the move, saying the idea is great because it promote tourism but American Samoa is not financially ready.
