Samoa's Lands and titles appeal court has rejected motions for a review of the Malietoa paramount title decision delivered nearly 3 years ago, which declared void the bestowal of the title on Faamausili Moli, one of the sons of the late head of state, Malietoa Tanumafili II.
The ruling has also denied an appeal hearing of an earlier court decision which specified that three clans of the title, Malietoa Gatuitasina, Malietoa Talavou, and Malietoa Moli, are the sole heirs to be involved in the selection of the next title holder.
The president of the appeal court, Tuala Sale Tagaloa Kerslake, also upheld another 2008 ruling in which the title was stripped because not all heirs of the three clans were involved in the selection.
Several members of the family say the decision should be respected and it's time for the three clans to unite and choose the next Malietoa.
