It's hoped a bill giving tax exemptions to the TV series 'Survivor' will encourage other productions to Samoa.
Parliament passed the Survivor Entertainment Group International Enterprise Group Bill 2011, which outlines tax exemptions and incentives to be extended to the popular series, being filmed in Samoa for the second time.
Savali News reports the Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi as saying the production is spending up to 16 million US dollars, filming two seasons.
The opposition's finance spokesman, Afualo Dr Wood Salele, says his party was happy with that trade-off.
"It's not easy to attract the film industry to come to the islands, though there is a special unique feature about the islands, due to their locale, the characteristics of the islands themselves, and their structure, and the people, the culture as well."
