Health workers in both Samoa and American Samoa have completed their annual conference with a challenge for them to walk the talk in upholding health measures to prevent non-communicable disease.

Samoa's Prime Minister, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, speaking at the Apia gathering, says health workers have to be the first to follow health measures to eliminate NCDs.

He says they must exercise, watch their diet and quit smoking and drinking alcohol.

Tuila'epa says changes in diet are the main cause of NCDs and he is calling on health practitioners in the two Samoa to be the first role models in eliminating the diseases.
