A senior church minister of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa has admitted to negligent driving causing the death of his wife

67-year-old Reverend Va'alotu Nafo'i had pleaded guilty to the charge and has been remanded on bail for sentencing next month.

The police say Nafo'i lost control of the vehicle, swerved to the road side and hit the concrete wall of a village shop.

The accident had happened last month when the defendant was driving home with his wife to their parish at Lalomauga.
