PNG's Oil Search in talks with Royal Dutch Shell

Papua New Guinea's Oil Search is in talks with Royal Dutch Shell about becoming a partner in its gas licenses in the Gulf of Papua.

The company has an extensive acreage position in the area, a relatively untested yet proven gas province.

Oil Search hopes to discover enough gas in the area to supplement an expansion of its flagship liquefied natural gas project in Papua New Guinea which is managed by ExxonMobil, or alternatively provide the foundation for another LNG hub.
