Sport: Games village running smoothly after early hiccups

Organisers of the Pacific Games in New Caledonia says operations are now running smoothly at the Games village after some initial teething problems.

Some countries reported their accommodation was dirty upon arrival in Noumea while organisers acknowledge some basic amenities were lacking.

The Director of the 2011 Games, Philippe LePoul, says preparations weren't helped by delays in the construction of the Games village but everything is now set up and ready.

He says feedback from various Chefs de Mission discovered some rooms were also missing basic items such as rubbish bins or enough wall plugs but these problems have since been dealt with.
