PNG Government unable to say why envoys' new jobs revoked

The Foreign Affairs Ministry in Papua New Guinea can't say why two diplomats have had their new appointments revoked.

Lucy Bogari was recently named as PNG's high commissioner to Australia and the current high commissioner there was chosen as the next ambassador to the United States.

The Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Michael Maue, says both decisions have been repealed but adds that Cabinet hasn't revealed why.

"It's a prerogative of Cabinet and obviously they would have reasons for that which I am not privy to. And so I cannot say, except to confirm that yes their appointments have been revoked."

Michael Maue says both envoys will remain in their current positions.

It is believed Ms Bogari would have been the first female PNG high commissioner to Canberra.
