Sport: AFL targets Oceania Cup for future development

AFL's Asia Pacific development officer says they will be striving to get as many countries as possible to participate at December's Oceania Cup.

Andrew Cadzow says the recently completed AFL International Cup in Australia boasted a marked lift in standard of play and he wants to see that continue in Fiji.

"If we get eight or nine countries participating in that, all the ones that participate in that, down the track their standard and style at senior level is enhanced ten fold.So the thought process is that we will be working very hard so this Oceania Cup in Fiji in December is twice as good as last year's. Twice as good as last years. More countries, more junior development, more coaching courses. And if we keep targeting that outcome we'll make sure of a good outcome for the senior side."
