Vanuatu's main hospital, Port Vila Central Hospital, is threatening to stop its ambulance services by tomorrow if the government doesn't clear its debts.
The hospital's superintendent, Doctor Willie Tokon, says they have accumulated debts for oxygen, fuel, water and electricity of more than 340,000 US dollars since January.
He says if the health ministry doesn't pay these bills by tomorrow, the hospital will no longer provide ambulance services.
Some hospital services have already been cut back while the public has been asked to provide food for their relatives who are patients there.
More than a hundred babies are born each month at Port Vila Central Hospital.
