A full day's programme of athletics will be the feature as the Pacific Games begins its second week in New Caldeonia

New Caledonia has accumulated 66 gold and 140 medals all up while Tahiti trails behind with 29 gold and 66 medals.

Fiji has pocketed 13 gold while Papua New Guinea boasts 11.

The weekend saw the previous host of the Games snare their first gold medals.

In sevens rugby Samoa gained revenge for their loss to Fiji four years ago while Samoan boxer Petelo Matagi doubled his country's tally in securing the 75 kilograms and under title.

There was some success for other nations on Saturday with boxer Jake Ageidu winning Nauru's first gold medal of the Games in the 91 kilograms and over division.
