The National Council for Women in Solomon Islands says it's saddened at being left out of the first visit to the country by a UN Secretary General.
Ban Ki Moon has just been in Honiara meeting with members of the government and opposition, Ramsi officials and donor countries.
He emphasised the importance of raising the status of women, ending violence against women and following through on the Prime Minister's pledge to reserve five parliamentary seats for women.
The Council's Vice President, Ella Kauhue, says the council plays a major role in addressing pressing women's issues and she's expressed surprised it was left out of stakeholder events during the visit.
"I'm happy that this issue's been raised with the PM directly but I'm not quite sure whether it is lip service or whether maybe women will just have to wait and see what the Prime Minister and his government can do about the empowerment of women in Solomon Islands."
