Pacific Island leaders are being welcomed at the opening ceremony of the Pacific Islands Forum leaders summit in Auckland.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Forum and Megan Whelan is at the ceremony.

"Leaders are being welcomed by school children performing on ukeleles in traditional dress. Looking back at the 40 years of the Forum will form a major part of the ceremony along with a number of performances which is being held at the Cloud, specifically built for the Rugby World Cup which is currently hosting 60 stallholders for the Pacific showcase. Following the ceremony, leaders will begin their meeting where they will discuss climate change, regional trade issues, development issues and regional security issues."
