10:58 am on 8 September 2011

The Office of Petroleum Management in American Samoa has set up, for the first time, a maximum allowable price or wholesale price for Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel.

The fuel is used for the new eleven generators at the American Samoa Power Authority's temporary power generation system.

The new maximum allowable price for the diesel - a cleaner-burning diesel fuel containing a maximum 15 parts-per million sulfur - was released by the Office of Petroleum Management on the 1st of September, along with the new wholesale price for other petroleum products sold in the territory.

The approved price for the Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel from this month has road diesel at about $4.09 US per gallon and diesel for boilers/generators $3.78 US per gallon.
