The chief executive of the Northern Islands Stevedoring Company in Luganville on Vanuatu's Santo island is refusing to accept the findings of a government-appointed commission of inquiry into allegations of the misappropriation of almost a million US dollars.
The charges against Kalfau Moli centre on claims he signed a Westpac cheque for almost 22,000 dollars to pay for Union of Moderate Parties candidates who contested Luganville's Municipal Elections.
The President of UMP and the leader of the opposition is Serge Vohor, the MP for Santo Rural.
After a police search in May of the premises of NISCOL, which is largely provincially owned, Mr Moli said his company had done nothing wrong and that the misappropriation investigation ordered by the Minister of Finance, Moana Carcasses, was itself politically motivated.
In his reply to the report Mr Moli rejects the inquiry's findings and is threatening to sue the government for what he says is a politicised and incomplete report.
