Three-day visit of UN Capital Development Fund leaders to Solomons

4:30 am on 12 September 2011

Leaders of the United Nations Capital Development Fund will be in Solomon Islands from today assessing the progress that's being made in improving access to essential and financial services.

The fund provides technical and investment support for more effective service delivery in provinces and for expanded access to sustainable financial services for Solomon Islanders.

It does that through two programmes, the Provincial Governance Strengthening Programme and the Pacific Financial Inclusion Programme, which is a regional programme based in Fiji.

During the three-day visit the fund's executive secretary David Morrison will meet with the Minister of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening, Walter Folotalu, and the Governor of the Central Bank, Denton Rarawa.
