Samoa's Prime Minister says he does not believe a proposed Polynesian sub-regional grouping will undermine the Pacific Islands Forum.
Leaders from a number of Polynesian countries will meet in Apia in November to form a grouping similar to the Melanesian Spearhead group.
Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi says he believes sub-regional groupings are the way forward for the region, as shown by the Melanesian Spearhead Group.
"A kind of grouping which had concentrated on matters of particular interest to them as a group. So with us, we will also be focussing on issues which are dear to our Polynesian spirits."
Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi says he believes there will be a number of issues to discuss.
