PNG MP Potape rejects police evasion claims

4:29 pm on 21 September 2011

A Papua New Guinea MP, Francis Potape, has dismissed claims that he has been evading police wanting to question him over an alleged fraud case.

His comment follows a public threat by the Police Commissioner Anthony Wagambie that force would be used if Mr Potape and two other MPs continued to ignore the police.

Mr Potape says he has been to see the fraud squad office, adding that as a leader he is obliged to uphold the law.

He says he has nothing to hide and describes himself as a role model for his people.
