China's Hui Liangyu on whistle-stop South Pacific tour

The Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu has made a stop-over in French Polynesia on his way from South America to New Zealand.

Mr Hui arrived in Papeete from Chile's Easter Island after visiting Peru.

In New Zealand, he is being hosted by the deputy prime minister, Bill English, and will meet the Prime Minister John Key and other senior ministers.

Several Chinese Vice Ministers accompany the Vice Premier, who will preside over the signing of several bilateral arrangements with Mr English.

Mr Hui will then visit Fiji and meet the President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau.
