The Samoa Government has set aside 500 acres of land which once belonged to the Samoa Trust Estates Corporation at Mulifanua for a proposed multi-million Chinese hotel.

The Lands minister Faamoetauloa Taito Faale Tumalii, has told the Savali newspaper the reserved land is located south of the Mulifanua wharf.

He says much of the land has been subdivided and the government wants to reserve it for the proposed hotel project to avoid any disputes in the future.

Earlier this year, a delegation from the Sichuan-based International Chendu hotel group was in Samoa scouting for a location to build a 500-room multi-story hotel.
