13 inmates from the High Risk Correctional Centre in Vanuatu have shocked the public with an escape to enjoy one night of freedom before asking the finance minister, Moana Carcasses, to accompany them back to jail the next day.
They include the most frequent escapee Jean Michel and Kenneth Atuary.
Correctional authorities have promised to look into how the mass escape occurred.
They have also promised to take appropriate measures to make sure it does not happen again.
