A coalition has been set up in American Samoa to lead the fight against lifestyle diseases which affect seven out ten people in the territory.
The group brings together government officials and members of local health groups already involved in the fight against diseases like diabetes, heart ailments and cancer.
A nutrition adviser for the Secretariat of the Pacific Community, Karen Fukofuka, is helping set up the coalition.
She says there's an alarming prevalence of such diseases in American Samoa.
"One of the key issues that we're finding now in the Pacific is that these were traditonally known as adult diseases but we're seeing now is the emergence of these diseases amongst children."
