The Fiji Bati have beaten Papua New Guinea 26-12 in Mount Hagen in the first of two rugby league internationals.
The Kumuls were stunned on their home turf, with coach Adrian Lam's decision to ignore the majority of his NRL players failing to pay off.
The second test is in Fiji on Saturday.
