The police in Fiji have released a New Zealand man who was being held in relation to an investigation on charges of conspiracy to create instability.

Jagath Karunaratne who is working in Fiji, was charged two weeks ago along with four others, with writing seditious comments in public places, and granted bail.

Eleven days ago he was re-arrested along with another man in relation to claims of a plot to burn down Suva.

Fiji's Assistant Commissioner of Police, Henry Brown, says Mr Karunaratne has been released without any further charges, but says the investigation is ongoing.
