An American Samoan police officer, Lieutenant Ray Noa, has been sentenced to five years in jail for assaulting a man in front of a tavern in Nu'uuli last year.

A jury convicted Noa of assaulting Arthur Blake while the officer was off-duty and drinking.

Noa got five years for second-degree asault, one year for property damage and six months for public peace disturbance, with the court ordering the sentences to run at the same time.
