Fiji surveys financial competence among poor

2:17 pm on 2 November 2011

A national survey on the financial competence of low income households is being conducted on the main islands of Fiji this month.

The Fiji Reserve Bank, which is managing the survey, says it's looking at the financial knowledge and skills people have and how this affects their behaviour.

The data will lead to a better understanding of how people manage money and use financial services in Fiji.

The Bank governor, Barry Whiteside, says the survey will help in the development of a national financial literacy strategy.
