Guam to get four more ambulances this week

Four more ambulances will be on Guam roads this week after the fire department received half a million US dollars from the US Department of the Interior.

For two years there had been ongoing maintenance issues with the ambulances and at one point the island had just one functioning ambulance.

The acting fire chief Joey San Nicolas says their aim is to have 12 ambulances on the roads at all times, and with the recent grants this goal looks realistic.

"I'm sure with the amount of ambulances were going to have online and the maintenance programs that were putting with these new units, we should not be too far from reaching these goals."

Joey San Nicolas says he is expecting an extra 20 ambulances on the roads by the end of the year.
