A foreign vessel has sunk in Cook Islands' waters.
The Cook Islands News reports the vessel - reportedly registered in Vanuatu - caught fire and sank last week in the waters of the northern group.
The Ministry of Marine Resources is awaiting a full incident report from the vessel's owners before releasing any details to the media.
The Rescue Coordination Centre in New Zealand - which counts the Cook Islands exclusive economic zone as part of its jurisdiction - says it has has not been notified of a sinking vessel.
Vanuatu Maritime Services has declined to comment.
